Useful Resources

Looking for other ways to find affordable, even free, used merchandise? Here's a list of resources in the Ithaca area to help you get your reuse back!

Craigslist

An online marketplace for all things used.

Dump & Run

Cornell's Dump & Run program collects items from students leaving campus in May, and resells them to the community in August. In addition to diverting tons of reusable items from the waste stream, the annual Dump & Run sale raises more than $50,000 a year for local charitable organizations. The annual sale is in late August.

Finger Lakes Buy Green

The goal of this website is to encourage green purchasing practices by providing consumers (residents, businesses, and other organizations) with the information necessary to buy products that protect our health and our environment.

Fixers Collective

For anyone who has things to fix, wants to help fix items, and/or wants to learn how to repair items, Fixers Collective offers weekly meetings (Saturday from 3pm to 5pm) at the ReUse Center. Join others in a relaxed and fun setting, to lengthen the lifespan of household items, while sharing skills and resources.

Freecycle Ithaca

An online network of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. The Ithaca group has around 10,000 subscribers! It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Membership is free. Also check out the smaller Trumansburg Freecycle.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Each year, the Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library holds two used book sales, one beginning the first weekend in May and the other beginning Columbus Day weekend in October. Proceeds benefit the Tompkins County Public Library (TCPL), the Finger Lakes Library System (FLLS) and organizations working for literacy in Tompkins County.
